The theme team

Quite simply put, we feel that a theme helps to bring the whole week together. We like to brainstorm activities that incorporate the week’s theme and in doing so it helps us to ensure our activities are fresh and current.

Themes create a buzz

Whether you’re a Disney fanatic or a secret spy or perhaps you’re the next Usain Bolt (Olympics theme) a camp with a theme helps to generate the children’s creativity and excitement. Now whilst it may seem that a theme is a tad uncool for those older campers, quite the contrary. Yes, it is true they older campers may not engage with the theme in the same way, it is also true that a theme can help create a conversation, unearth a passion or find like-minded friends. The older campers might for example; realise their love for cooking as part of our Disney themed week (ratatouille, lady and the tramp, the princess and the frog. Need we say more?) whilst in comparison the younger campers may enjoy participating in our themed activities and dressing up!

Eyes on the prize

Whilst not the most important aspect of having a theme, Mavericks Day Camps does host a weekly fancy dress competition to see which child has the most wonderful costume in keeping with the week’s theme!

Is it just for show?

Goodness no! Our themes; whilst they might look impressive are far more important than that. They provide a whole camp collaboration that might not be possible without one single thing connecting us all from mini mavericks right they way through to teens a theme is something that we all can share and enjoy.
